You join as a probationary member and will become a full member after six months. When your probationary period ends you can apply to your local police for a firearm certificate so that you can acquire your own firearms if you wish to do so.
You will undergo a course of safety instruction and shooting over three sessions:
- .22 bolt-action rifle with open sights and telescopic sights
- .357 or .44 lever-action rifle
- .22 semi-automatic rifle
After your instruction sessions you are free to attend and shoot any time we are open. There are no range fees – you pay only for the ammunition you use and small gun hire charge.
For use of centre-fire rifles at distances of 2,000+ yards please contact our other club Tyne Valley Rifle Club which shoots at Ponteland and Warcop military ranges.
*The law requires that anyone under the age of eighteen must be under the supervision of an adult whilst they are handling or using firearms. Our club policy is that all under eighteens are supervised whilst on the premises whether or not they are actually handing firearms. For these reasons anyone under the age of eighteen must join in conjunction with a supervising adult who must undertake the same safety instruction.
